More than 100 foreign brands with their eyes on Colombia

Colombia has become an attractive market for entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world. Despite the economic slowdown of the last years, Colombia looks like a springboard to expand market in Latin America.

This has been mainly produced by the progressive increase of the franchise model in the country; this model increased 32% during the last 2 years. So at the moment there are 500 brands, 42% of them are foreigners.

With brands like Afflelou a spanish opticians franchise which is in 16 countries, Ornare, furniture manufacturers, Auto & House, Paleteros, Electrobike, Shifu, Kukponga or Bellini; Mexico, Paraguay, Brazil, and 21 countries from Asia, America and Europe are trying enter Colombia with their own franchise model.

This was showed in the Andean Business and Franchise Fair Fanyf (Feria Andina de Negocios y Franquicias) 2018, where more than 100 foreign brands exposed their franchise model looking to do business with Colombian investors and entrepreneurs.

In “El Gran salón Corferias” in Bogotá, on July 10th and 11th, was the twelfth version of Fanyf, there were different franchises possibilities with a proven and successful business model, and the brands met potential local partners that wanted to start a business of this type.

The Vice-President of the Colombian Chamber of Franchising (Colfranquicias) Luis Felipe Jaramillo said: "Colombia has become a promising country for the expansion of franchises, this business scheme has become an engine for entrepreneurship and investment to build a stronger business network. It also helps to show its attractive market for national and international companies" for this reason Colfranquicias sponsors the Fair.

Fanyf also has the backing of TratoContrato, the specialized web site of franchises for sale; that support, educate and guide all the entrepreneurs who want to buy a franchise or convert their business into a franchise.

In Fanyf 2018, there were conferences, some were made by successful entrepreneurs who talked about their experiences; this helped new investors who are just starting their investment path.
